Volunteering

Are you fascinated by Somerset’s history? Why not volunteer and take part in caring for your heritage?

Volunteers are invaluable members of our organisation. We have hundreds of volunteers who play a vital role in the running of such a busy and popular museum. They participate in different ways from engaging museum visitors at family events to providing technical support behind the scenes. Through their time, energy and skills, they help us to place the Museum of Somerset at the heart of the county’s cultural life.

As a volunteer you will:

• Work with fascinating collections of objects, books, documents and art
• Help others learn about their history and heritage
• Work at a historic site
• Use existing skills and technical knowledge
• Meet new people
• Gain new skills and experience
• Do something worthwhile and have fun!

How to get involved
You don’t need to be an expert in history to become a volunteer, however enthusiasm and willingness are key. Let us know what you’re interested in and we’ll find the perfect role to suit you.

Download the Volunteer Application Form and send it to: museumofsomerset@swheritage.org.uk

Our volunteers cover a range of backgrounds and ages, and they bring a wealth of experiences and expertise to our service. We are proud to support volunteering and we value the contribution our volunteers make to our work and the services we provide.  We hope you will consider volunteering with us.
